Almost a month after President Donald Trump’s self declared “liberation day,” during which he announced his official blistering tariff policy against the world, the American economy continues to plummet, grocery prices continue to rise, and the billionaires sitting atop the American economy await as Congress works to push through Trump’s budget that would slash their taxes while simultaneously adding $5 trillion to the national debt. A major population of the American public has grown increasingly weary and overtly opposed to Trump’s excessive executive actions as he drops to a 41% approval rating after his first 100 days in office, lower than any President in at least seven decades. Regardless, the administration has declared no intentions to change course, doubling down on their intentions to deport immigrants and possibly U.S. citizens to foreign countries, combating universities on their DEI policies in a constitutional battle that puts the first amendment to the forefront of the American educational system and dismantling the federal government and it’s agencies, ridding it of so called fraud, waste and abuse, through the ceaseless and concealed efforts of the richest man on earth, Elon Musk, and his DOGE 20-something-year-old coders. The administration continues to strike the cords of checks and balances within the federal government with continual challenges, intimidation and blatant disregard of court orders from both lower courts as well as the Supreme Court. In unprecedented efforts, Trump and his administration are putting American Democracy to the test in the face of a world that is handling a war in Ukraine and a genocide in Gaza, bringing the United States’ role as the leader of the free world to question: Is the United States still the shining example of freedom and democracy?

Protesters took to the streets across the country on International Workers Day in solidarity against The Trump administration. In New York, just steps away from City Hall at Foley Square, thousands gathered in support of unions rights, workers rights, federal employees, public service jobs and Palestinians. Fired up by leaders of several unions and coalitions, the crowd roared as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took the stage as part of her and Sen. Bernie Sanders’ national tour speaking against the Trump Administration. The rally quickly took to the streets, marching through downtown on Broadway as each union group and coalition filled the air with their own chants and calls for action.
